Seatbelts for your Effie

After wearing seatbelts for years, it's the law in Michigan, I decided I wanted them in my '56. People have told me that if they were not in the vehicle originally they weren't required by law. I have gotten used to them and think they are a good idea.
I looked at them in the magazines and catalogs, and ordered two 3 point belts (I think they were $90 ). Colors were limited and when I got 'em I didn't like the way they were put together. So I sent them back and went shopping at a local automotive recycler, a Junkyard for those who prefer the non-politically correct. I knew how I hoped to mount the belts, I just had to find a set that would accommodate my idea. I had already found my seats at this place and knew they had tons of belts still in the remains of the cars. After looking at 20 or 30 types I saw a set that fit my requirements. They took them out, and charged me $50 bucks for the pair. Better and cheaper.

They were from a full size GM four door sedan. These cars have every removeable part taken off so it's hard to tell what it used to be.
I bought mounting plates too when I ordered the belts. I kept the plates and bolts. Since a picture is worth a thousand word I'll save myself some typing, and you all some reading, and just show you how it turned out. It was so easy it dosn't require much discription. Just locate. Drill. Bolt 'em up. When the interior is done ( what you see here is me just roughing everything in) I don't think many people would ever know they weren't factory belts. I also got all the plastic covers and bolts with the belts.
That's what I did, not saying it's a perfect solution. But, it's better than no belts at all.
Heavy backing plates are behind bolts in each of the three locations... don't pay any attention to the yellow paint...it was a test.
I'm going with a basic black and tan interior.
