Raised Phoenix Gold Logo

Now, like most kids, we all have our bills to pay, women to take out to the movies, etc. Adam is one of these guys. Naturally, he can't get all the equiptment he needs right away, but he still wants the box to look as good as possible for the time being. The box I am doing for him will be built so that as soon as he gets the subs they can be slapped in. So I did a bit of creative work on the front part of the box that the subs will sit against.

A Phoenix Gold logo.

First, the area was sanded smooth and then roughed up a bit to get a good sticking surface for the vinyl around the edges. I then took an enlarged photocopy of a Phoenix Gold logo from a car audio magazine and cut out the wave design. I then took a small piece of scrap hardwood and sanded it down to half its original thickness with my old orbital sander. You could use a piece of hard thin foam or basically any easy to cut, thin material, but once again, I'm a cheap guy. Once a good thickness (thinness?) was achieved, the paper was pasted on the wood cut out and the corners were sanded smooth. Simple eh?

(Oops, its upside down) And here is what it looks like after I applied the vinyl and trimmed it smooth.

And here is it with the front piece put on. Once the vinyl for the top of the box is purchased, it will be put on hardwood pannels and put over the front piece. Then the grill will be placed over the whole thing.

Now move on to the next part of this construction project.
