I'm in 2nd place in this picture.
In the summer of 1996, I got to participate in a YSR50 endurance race (3 hours) with Mr. Kawasaki (Tracy) and Deon. The race was held in Prairie City, up in Sacramento. Practice was Saturday and the race was Sunday! I wrecked 3 times in practice, and once during the race (I was tapped from behind!) It was a blast. It's amazing how pumped I got while in the race... the first few laps was me saying "OK, breathe Coustier... breathe!!!" The feeling of stalking the guy in front of you is awesome... "I can pass this guy... geez, you really park it in the corners mister... c'mon, let me buy you bastard... I'll stuff you in this corner.... " I need to do it more. However, I need another set of riding gear to do it... those few wrecks were not nice to my street riding leathers.
We finished 6th overall in our class (12 finishers.) If only I didn't wreck so much...
My wreck during the race was devastating for our results (duh): Had I only not failed to realize the engine switch had been set to OFF during the accident, I could have gained us probably 3 minutes... that 3 minutes would have put us into 3rd overall! AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!
