The Future of The Saldanha Unit
If this unit proves to be popular (which of course it will do with hardcore drinkers!) I shall get it registered worldwide as a recognised unit. The next step will be to convince manufacturers and retails outlets to include 'The Saldanha Unit' either on packaging/labels or along side the product on shelving displays. In as easy to read font drinkers will be about to make their purchase quickly and painlessly giving them more VDT (Valuable Drinking Time). An intermediate step could be to provide alcohol outlets with a specially designed 'Saldanha Unit Calculator' allowing the shopper to punch in the vital details (as shown above) and receive the 'Saldanha Score'.Another idea that would prove popular with drinkers would be an up to date web site containing all Off-Licence and Supermarket special offers and the weeks best 'Saldanha Score'. This would save any chasing around to find the best offer. The site could be linked on a whole 'Saldanha Drinkers Network' with feedback options so that drinkers can update others with offers as they happen..
