who went to see Mika Hakinen do his parade through the town of Woking, where the McLaren factory is based. He first did a pass in the back seat of a 500SL Mercedes convertible, waving and acknowledging the crowd. He then decided to hop into his Mercedes MP4-13 car which saw him win both the 1998 Drivers' and Constructors' Champsionships, and do a noisy lap of honour of the town center for the 15,000 English fans. A special presentation was made by the mayor of Woking to team boss Ron Dennis, for McLaren's contribution to the development of the small town, situated south-west of London. |
