One look at the Explorer chrome grill and you realize that this is not your everyday Ranger.
Sporting a 5.0 Liter V-8 that makes 240 horsepower and 285 lb/ft of torque,
the Ranger SVT did 0-60 in 7.2 seconds and the quarter mile in
15.1 at 94.1 mph.
The engine is actually from a pre-94 Mustang and features a remote oil cooler,
a thick core aluminum radiator, custom heads, and a custom-made exhaust.
The tires are 17x9 Eagles on five-spoke Cobra wheels.
Four wheel disc brakes bring it from 60
to 0 in 148 feet.
The interior of this truck is typical Ranger, except for the SVT stitching in the seats. All options are available, including a CD player, and dual airbags.
Base price is just under $20,000, this one tested by Motor Trend Magazine* was about $22K. If Ford decides to produce this experimental Ranger SVT, they would probably only make 5,000 per year.
