Polk chose the new Ford F-150 extended cab trucks because of their proven reliability and good looks and because they can easily haul around gear, like tool kits, computers, tents, luggage, etc. They built the demo vehicles knowing that they would travel over 50,000 miles per year, and still be reliable and comfortable. They decided against motorized amp racks, excessive neon, and other "enhancements" for reliability reasons; instead they let the sound do the talking.
The trucks were lowered with Bell-Tech lowering kits and some nice cosmetic touches
were added with Bell-Tech billet grilles, Keystone bumper covers and roll pans, PIAA driving lights,
ARE bedcovers with a cool rear spoiler. Finishing touches were the American Racing wheels
with fat BF Goodrich tires and custom vinyl logos and cosmetic details.
The sound system started with the Alpine CVA-1000 head unit for the trucks because of its
integrated LCD screen for the navigation system. The CVA-1000 is connected to the
navigation system and the Alpine CHA-S605 6-Disc CD changer. The output from the head unit goes to seven Alpine amplifiers.
Four two hundred watt amplifiers drive eight Polk Audio db12 twelve-inch
subwoofers.
The signal is carried by Streetwires zero-noise cable and speaker wire. The
trucks were treated by the best stuff made by Dynamat.
You're probably going to get a chance to see and hear one of these trucks. After all, they're visiting over 1000 car stereo stores this year. If you get a chance, take it! I'm sure your eyes and ears will be in for a treat, Ford Trucks and Polk Audio, a great combination!
