428R code
This one is a car I have wanted for a long, long time. I was told of this car from a mutal friend at work months before I went to look at it. The man that owned it was retired and had purchased the car drove it home and tore in completely apart to restore it. It had a vinyl top and being informed that that year mach did not come with a vinyl top removed it to put it back stock. The reason for the top was damage to the drivers side b pillar and instead of working the metal back they had juist beat it out fairly close and put the top on it. Anyway,The man decided to remove the roof and replace it. That was as far as he had gotten when he decided it was to much for him and wanted to unload it. The car is fairly complete( truckload of parts) and is a real mach one r code. Motorand trans are not origonal though. Have located the right engine and trans and am debating to buy this( lotta cash) or rebuild the one that came with it( 66 galaxie 428). As I do not thave the funds to restore it to stock specs I feel the best thing for me to do would be to keep a basic stock appearace but not worry about numbers matching. The car will not be butchered but will have headers and intake carb and internal changes.
Fixing the b pillar was 1/2 inch off.
New roof (for the car at least)installed but not fully worked yet.
See the support plates on the shock tower? Sure sign big block car!!
