Same car different view
in case ya hadnt figured it out already, this page is for the debuting of other cars either of mine, or friends of mine, or that people have mailed to me. the one above is my 1967 galaxie custom500 coupe. it came original with a 390-4v and a 4spd, and amazingly enough a 9in posi rear with freeway gears. apparently the concept of street racing on of these bad boys evaded ford back in those days, seems they only envisioned the full size and full power models to see freeway travel. anyway, before i got ahold of it someone had swapped out the 4spd for a c-6 with a 2800 stall and a shift kit. nice choice but iwould have stayed with the 4spd.
once in our posession we revamped the 390 block by punching it out to .035 overbore and adding 12.5:1 flattop pistons, some junkyard rods that were off of a 64 390.. mainly for the high nickel content, bolted em to a 428 crankshaft that was custom reground to take advantage of the wieght balance. for a camshaft we chose a iskedarian 280 megacam with 280 duration @ 0.050 with .561 lift on both sides. (intake and exhaust) in retrospect i think i probably should have chosen a little more lift on the exhaust stroke but hindsight is 20/20 as usual. after adding the hydraulic camshaft we decided to go with a pair of really hard to find heads (427 medium risers) which worked well. it ended up with all the changes making the engine a 413ci instead of the 410 we were aiming for, but nonetheless it works well, with an edelbrock 390 streetmaster intake and 750 carb with manual choke, full msd ignition from the dist. to the spark box(7al) and of course fuel regualtors, deep sump milodon oil pan, electric fuel and oil pump.. both high volume. on the dyno prior to taking it out for a test run it hit 555HP@6350rpm and 685lb-ft of torque @4800 rpm... at the track she ran a 12.0@120mph... which at first didnt make sense, but with a different convertor she might move quicker for her speed, she is a little slow off the line but more than makes up for it once into second gear.. and the shift to third liked to ripped the helmet off my head....more pics of her to come as i revamp the engine in the coming year.

once again.. here is the engine out of the galaxie, not as pretty as you would have expected for all the time and money put into it, but what the hell... just gotta love those FE engines
