Ok, here's all the info. The cage is from All-4-Fun in Oregon, the front seat mounts were custom made for me by Bob at All-4-Fun. I also got extra spreader bars for things I might want to add later. I got the unassymbled version and had it truck shipped so he didn't have to cut the big U-shaped tubes. I welded it myself and I'd like to think I did a good job but I'm not about to go out and roll by Bronco just to test my welds. I got the 'cage powder coated in a matte black and it looks great. I think I payed maybe $80 for the cage to be powder coated. I also drilled the tubing for seat belt mounts. I don't have pics of that yet, but the belts are acually 5 point racing harnesses. I like to be safe. I remember back a year or so ago when there was a discussion on the EBML about tying the cage to the frame when running a 'glass body. I had an idea of building a subframe under the body and bolting the cage to the subframe and bolting the subframe to the chassis via the mody mounts. Well, most people thought it was gross overkill, so what I did was a HUGELY simplified version. On the Kentrol bodies, there is a piece of 2" x 2" steel running underneith the very back of the body. The body mount bolts go through this peice too. So I made sure my cage came down right on top of this peice and bolted my cage to the 2" x 2" and this seems to work fine so far. Keep in mind I haven't driven this thing yet. For the center of the tub, I cut out the fiberglass support that runs the width of the body and put on another peice of 2" x 2" tubing. On this peice I welded some angle iron to the ends of it and it made some really nice tabs to bolt my cage to. Again, this support is tied in to where the body gets bolted to the chassis. Now for the front I haven't done anything to yet. You might say that it isn't really necessary due to the amount of tubing up front, but I will tie this to the frame too. I will probably just to a dirct frame tie-in and skip trying to go through the body mounts. I'm not too worried about the harsher ride, thought I probably should be. Oh price, um, well, I can't remember. With shipping I think it was about $150 more than the catalog says, but I got extra tubes and I payed for the time to bend them.
Why did I go with the All-4-Fun 'cage versus anyone else's? I think the Proto Fab cage looked a little thin to me, in the pictures anyway. The other thing is that I didn't like the fact of adding a few bars to the end of a cage to make it a family cage. The Wild Horses is the same way. Plus the extra U-shaped tubes on the WH cage just seemed too much for me. The Kentrol cage just didn't give me the options I wanted. Or at least that I thought I could get.
