Personal Background!

Please allow me to give you some personal background information about us (so you know what kind of crazy people we are!). Well, it all started when my step-son, Gary, became interested in getting his own car. Since he is of legal driving age, my wife and I realized that getting him a car is something we would eventually have to do. My idea of a first car for Gary was something safe, something solid, something with good brakes....obviously a 1967 Ford Econoline wasn't my first choice! I was more inclined to get him a Volvo. Unfortunately, a Volvo was way out of the question....Ellen and Gary both thought a Volvo was rather dorky. Since I figured my ideas were getting us nowhere, I allowed Gary to search for his own car. His idea of a first car was 1967 Camaro, El Camino, Monte Carlo, Buick...and we are talking all old cars here. I took this all in, thinking it might be interesting watching Gary fix his own car, taking care of all the things that eventually go wrong with an older car. Then I realized, he doesn't have the slightest idea on how to fix anything, let alone a car!! Well, you can guess how we were looking at cars from then on, things that are easy to fix, and more or less bullet-proof! Gary was stuck on having an older car, so when we stumbled across this van, that was it! Everything on this van is manual, the steering, shifting, windows, locks...you name it. I figured, the less moving parts the better. We paid $850.00 for the van, and we got all sorts of extra parts (hmm). The gentleman that we purchased the van from was the nicest guy (hi Steve!!), he had it since it was four years old, and he did all the work on it himself. Not to mention that he kept very good records of what was done to the van! Bonus! So, that leads us to where we are now......
