VOLKSWAGEN MK4 GOLF 1.8T

Bet you wondering if this is a Golf or a Jetta? Hmm, the guys down at Greedspeed wanted something totally different and something which nobody ever thought was possible with a Mk4. The whole car is so perfectly completed that the pictures here doesn't do justice for the car. To really appreciate it you need to see the car in the metal. Firstly the red paintwork is enough to make the Golf Mk4 stand out in any crowd. The basic car was a Mk4 Golf 1.8T which already had alot of potential on it's own. Then the engine was tweaked to get more power out of the 1.8Turbo and up the kilowatts by a substantial amount with the help of Neuspeed after-market accessories. Well, the car needed some extra oomph if it was going to look like it could fly. What's the point of having the bark without any bite to back it? Hmm? Well, the entire exhaust system was also enhanced to give the engine a better growl. Yeah, you can actually hear this monster from a mile away! Talk about making an entrance... The next thing done to the stock car  was the upgrading of the brakes to assist with braking since this red-monster can fly now and therefore it needs to be brought back to a standstill without any sweat. The brake pads were also swapped for enhanced items. The first set of wheels chosen for this car was a set of Oettinger RE 17x7.5J wheels. These alone made the car awesome! Then the bodywork began... Ok, for all of you wondering just how much work is involved in doing a Jetta front-end conversion to your Golf, read further. It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to achieve the car you see on this page. What you do need is a friend with a Jetta who is willing to swop his front with yours. Don't forget that things become easier if you try and locate someone with the same color VW as yours as this makes a trip to the panelbeaters obsolete. Firstly the entire grille and headlights need to be removed from both cars as most of the bolts holding the front bumper and side fenders are located here. Next up is the bonnet which comes off quite easily by removing the bolts holding the arms as well as the gas strut bolt. Next up is the front bumper which is now easily accessible. Then both fenders. Once done, you'll be amazed at the end-result! I am sure you can see just by the pics. Well the guys at Greedspeed went even one better by fitting the entire Oettinger bodykit comprising front sports grille, front bumper spoiler, side skirts, rear roof spoiler and rear bumper spoiler. The final touch to the body was in the form of the sport mirrors. Inside the car got silver dials, Oettinger aluminium pedal set plus footrest as well as a really high-end ICE system. The Oettinger RE 17inch wheels were then swapped for 18inch wheels. Another final touch of excellence was the blackening of the VW emblems on the front and rear as well as smoked Hella tail lamps. Now this is what you can call a red-devil in disguise as it packs a helluva punch and also got the looks to boot!
