VOLKSWAGEN MK3 JETTA VR6

Story by Noor Abrahams

Pictures by Jon Hanna

Imagine seeing the top-left hand image in your rear view mirror and hearing the roar of that sweet VR6 engine? Well, if you were driving a 4x4, then you'd probably only hear the engine note but not see anything. Reason is that this VR6 Jetta is the lowest there is. Just take a look at the 'cellphone test' at the bottom of this page. You've got to believe me when I say that this car is low! Well, owner Jon Hanna (better known as VDubnVR6 on the VWVortex Forum) is pretty happy with his car. To some the car may look pretty standard except for those Porsche 944S 16x7 front and 16x9 rear forged wheels running on 205/40/16 front and 215/40/16 rear Kumho tires. Jon has been hard at work getting his car to this height or should I say 'low' ride height. What also grabs you is the the color of the car. It is dark and can only mean one thing when you catch a glimpse of it in your rear view mirror - move the hell out of the way! Externally Jon has also opted for the Euro-look and therefore fitted the VR6 Euro-spec front spoiler, smoked Votex foglights, smoked Vento/Jetta headlights, aluminium roof bee-sting antenna, DTM cup mirrors, blacked-out emblems, grille eyelid spoiler, smoked indicators, smoked side-markers and a Bonrath single-wiper. For one, those DTM mirrors also enhance that Badboy look of this Jetta. From the front it appears to want to swallow anything in it's path and Jon is known to take no prisoners! When these pictures were taken, long black tyre streaks were visible and obviously was the work of Jon. Seems he really knows just how to shed some rubber! Now getting the car that low was obtained by fitting Weitec XS coil-overs with H&R adapters. This means the ride can be adjusted to any height and still offer a smooth soft ride. The interior remains pretty standard for now but there's plans to change this in the not too distant future. The engine mods comprise a P-Flo air-filter and 70 shot dry n2o! This all is filtered out via a TT 2.5" stainless steel exhaust! That definitely will enhance that meaty note from that super-smooth VR6 engine. I can't begin to imagine just how much torque Jon is able to get through the wheels with the car being so low. Must be heaven! This car definitely is one car you do not mess or toy with! So beware, you have been warned. Furthermore VDubnVR6 has also informed to let all you guys out there know that this monster if up for grabs, yep the VR6 is for sale. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Get in touch with him via e-mail on VDubnVR6 right now!
