MK3 GOLF VR6 SUPERCHARGED
Story by Noor Abrahams Pictures by Herman Sudarsono |
Here's another VR6 Turbo but is on the other end of the car-mod world out there. The guy responsible for the car on this page is Herman Sudarsono. The car is a Golf VR6 Driver's Edition which also came in a limited edition shade of yellow called Ginster. What makes this car even more special is the fact that it runs on 18x8J ABT Sportsline A24 wheels! Yep, those 18inch wheels are absolutely stunning and from the pictures I am sure you too will agree. Herman confessed that when driving the car the fenders do scrape against the tyre when the coil-overs are set for an ultimate low slung ride. The fenders were even flared at the front to accommodate the massive wheels but still some scraping still occurs when cornering hard into a bend. Herman opted for the ABT Sportsline bodykit which includes the front spoiler and side skirts. | Herman didn't opt for the twin headlight conversion on offer from ABT Sportsline and insisted doing his own thing by fitting a set of Mk4 Hella headlights and a KAMEI sports grille to finish off the front of the car with style. The rear of the car was completed off with a set of custom-made tail lights which are M3-style half clear/half red. Herman did this himself and seems quite proud of his custom-made rear tail lights! The suspension was upgraded with coil-overs but I do not have any information for you on what kit was selected, however I will mention that for a ride this low and still maintain a soft drive, he probably fitted a KONI kit or K&W which are the more popular makes around. The entire suspension was also enhanced with anti-sway bars front and rear from Neuspeed as well as an Eibach strut brace in the engine | bay. From the outside the car looks truly stunning! The mirrors also were not left standard and they too were swapped for DTM-style units. What also enhanced the Euro-look of the car was the fitting of twin-DTM upswept tailpieces at the rear which gives a mighty roar when flooring the accelerator pedal. I am sure the sound left many guys with envy! Since the car was completed Herman attended many VW shows and gatherings and often walked off with trophys and at times prizes! Herman has since sold the car and now the car has a new owner who also added his own touch by fitting DTM corner splitters to the front spoiler and an ABT Sportsline boot spoiler. The car still runs and is on the road still managing to turn heads wherever it is spotted.... |
