MK4 JETTA 1.8T
Story by Noor Abrahams Pictures by John Hazel |
John Hazel has been at it again with his latest and greatest project to date - the all-new Jetta Mk4 1.8T No sooner than selling his new Beetle he quickly chased after the Jetta Mk4 with its clean lines. John is an employee of 1552DESIGN down in Florida, USA. These are the guys who take Volkswagens' to new heights in the styling and performance arena. John has been working hard at making his Mk4 Jetta the best there is and have done so in a very short space of time. His car is featured in many international magazines like Performance VW magazine as well as MAX Power and not to mention European Car. The car you see here is still not complete and has since had three different wheel combinations. John sold these 18inch RUF Porsche wheels and opted for the 17inch Audi TT chrome 5-spoke wheel which bolted on without any hassles involved. After a few months he decided it was time to go one step up again with 18inch BBS CH wheels which proved to be a real stunner. His car was seen dropped ultra-low almost having the fender of the car drop over the tire! Now that's awesome thanks to his H&R threaded coil-overs. This is further enhanced with Neuspeed 25mm front sway bar, Neuspeed 28mm rear sway | bar, Neuspeed front upper strut tower brace and Neuspeed front lower subframe brace. That completes the entire suspension geometry of the car which offers a soft yet very low ride. In my honest opinion, of all the wheel combinations John tried, these 18inch RUF wheels look the best. Below you can see the various wheel combinations John tried ending off with the latest from projektzwo, being the SLC wheel which is chrome in 18inch configuration. The car is kitted entirely with projektzwo armoury and always ready for battle. The front has the lower front spoiler, a tasty grille, side skirts, sport cup mirrors, rear bottom apron and rear wing complete the package. What's also different are the European-spec H4 headlights with fogs. Keeping all of this on the road currently are projektzwo SLC 18x8.5 ET34 wheels shod with Yokohama Parada 225/40/ZR18 tyres. This car also have the performance to match the looks. Apart from the APR chip with EMCS options John also fitted Neuspeed P-Flo, ATP 3" downpipe with no catalytic converter, Bailey Motorsports DV3O boost release valve, Denso iridium spark plugs, VW Motorsports hard rubber torque brace, VDO Vision 25psi boost/vacuum gauge just to | check what's happening in the engine compartment! If you think this is the end of the mods, think again... There's still plenty more planned but that depends on John's budget. John confessed since moving down to Florida, the elements have been more kinder with the bodywork as you can drive for weeks without worrying about been seen in a dirty car! The car basically remains clean except for some bees and flies after a high-speed stint or just cruising the streets. John moves around alot with 1552DESIGN attending shows all over the USA. If you happen to attend these shows, don't forget to pay your respects to the ultimate Mk4 Jetta 1.8T!!! Almost forgot to mention that prior to these 18inch RUF wheels, John had a set of 19inch BBS LM wheels! Now you can't begin to imagine just how awesome this effect was! The car was seen at a few shows with those 19inch BBS LM wheels fitted. Well, then Steve Beheler with his Golf VR6 decided to fit them and rank up the points. Well, one things for sure, John's car keeps getting better and better! See below and decide for yourself... |
