Nelson's News

Jellybean Jar

What have I been doing this summer? I always tell my students that I try to learn something new during each summer vacation. Last summer, Rick and I went to Cape May, and we learned to sail on a schooner. The year before that, I took a class and learned to create stained glass stepping stones - which look really cool in my garden. This summer I am learning to build and install cabinets, shelves, and what not in my bedroom closet. At this point in time, my closet is an empty 8ft. X 10ft. room. I am learning how to use a table saw to create a beautiful set of built in drawers. We are also installing wire shelving, tie racks, and lots of shoe shelves. I now know why carpenters get paid well for their work!

Once the closet is completed, I will take some of the before pictures and after pictures and try to scan them in to this site for you to see what Mrs. N. does in her spare time. Contrary to popular belief, teachers do try to have a life from time to time. I know closet building is not as exciting as sailing a large schooner or working with glass saws, but Mr. Nelson and I are saving up for a trip to England next summer, so this year is our boring year. Sorry:) NEXT YEAR WILL BE WAY COOL TO TALK ABOUT!
