1980 Opel Kadett

After two previously owned,  slighly unusual, very troublesome British cars,  I decided a change had to occur.  My first NEW car,  a German built Opel Kadett, a new car only available from the showroom for a month or two.  Nothing too special, just a nice solid hatchback,  reliable....  definately a car to keep for a long while, instead of  losing money trading in one loser for another. Certainly not nearly as exciting as the Dolomite, but I figured that I could deal with that.

But  then,  after owning the car for less than a year,  I accepted a job in California, which meant selling the car to finance the move to the States. Oh well.
