1976 Triumph Dolomite Sprint

Eventually I got sick of dealing with the breakdowns with the Transit and bought a tent to sleep in on my diving weekends and a new car to go along with it. My Dolomite - still the best car I've ever owned.  A 2000cc engine with 16 values,  4 speed gearbox with overdrive on third and fourth and just about the fastest thing on British roads at the time with the exception of cars costing about ten times the amount.

It was a really fun car to drive as I could beat almost anything away from the traffic signals when they turned green and hold them off until I chickened out.  I had it up to about 115 on the M1 motorway coming come from a party late one Saturday night and it was a dream to drive.  One of the coolest things about owning this car was that one of my buddies had a Dolomite 1850 and he'd been boasting about what a great car he had.  Of course,  mine was just a little faster :)  HeHeHeHeHe    Hi Dino :)))).

Unfortunately,  after a while I started having mechanical problems which required a mechanic taking off  the cylinder head.  Turned out no one knew how to put the damn thing back together again and it never ran right again, inspite of many trips to different mechanics. Oh,  It still had the killer acceleration,  but it overheated after any extended period of driving - yeah,  like about 15 minutes :(
