Rolls-Royce Motorcars

One of the pioneering marques in the automotive world was created
when Englishmen Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce
joined forces in 1904. After taking a trip in a car that ran poorly and
proved unreliable, Royce decided he could design a much better car,
and did just that. Rolls-Royce motor cars of that time featured
state-of-the-art engineering, and even then smooth, quiet operation
was the major selling point. Today, Rolls-Royce is owned by Vickers
PLC, a British company with interests in aerospace, marine propulsion
and metallurgy, in addition to automobiles. While Rolls-Royces are
favorites with monarchs, potentates and movie stars, a recent
research study showed that Rolls-Royce owners are using their cars
more often, and in the same ways the rest of us use our cars. For 1998, there are only two models available, the Silver Spur and Silver Dawn.  The big news now is that Rolls-Royce is being sold by Vickers, most likely to BMW.  Prices for these cars are $180,000 to about $250,000. Also, Rolls-Royce has just announced a new V12 powered car called the Silver Seraph. More information will come on that as we learn it.

Rolls-Royce is considered to be the marque in the automobile industry, and sells only a couple thousand cars in a year.  It takes one man one day to make a Rolls radiator, and another five hours to polish it.  The Spirit of Ecstasy, or Flying Lady hood ornament, is finished with powdered cherry stones.  Rolls-Royce also outfits the interior exactly how you ask for it.
