you all know about my hotrod project, but i'm not the only wacko out there
building or restoring a VW. Here are some others. Feel free to send me
photos and description of your project, or your garage, or your project
without a garage, or your garage without a project. Any combination is
perfectly acceptable. I'm easy. That's why my wife married me.

Well here is our first garage, and it's gonna be a hard one to top. We appologize ahead of time for the picture quality, but these shots are still worth posting. This series of shots comes all the way from Norway(come on Americans, show us that you can have garages too). Jan Inge Hillesoy (sorry I dont have one of those o with the slash thru it) writes, A bit of background on this guy:His name is Klaus Sydow, and he is 60
years old,and a
legend in VW circles here in Norway. The cars that you see here is only
part of his
collection. He has about 20 Type 2 ,and about 60 other VWs,most of them
bugs.Man,
EIGHTY VeeDubs!Sadly he says that the red one on one of the pictures is
going to be
the last one he restores, due to bad health.Imagine to have all those
cars standing outside,
and not being able to work on them!
Now to my favorite garage in the world

These are shots of Jan I's garage in Norway his dog Bjarne and his buggy project and him for that matter. To see more of this massive garage and all the other projects in it be sure to grab the "vee dub files" link on my links page. You dont want to miss it

Well I dont see a garage, but trust me it's there. This guy is Chuck Pisconski "The Split Man" with his 1950 standard beetle. This guy has more splits, complete and in pieces than anyone I know. His garage is a huge 4 story barn that he built. The basement contains the shop and storage for 2 of the splits and a really neat oval. The other 3 floors contain "The Lost Treasure Of Siera Pisconski" If you need something, he has it. It might be for sale or it might not. It doesnt hurt to ask. This is the Brains behind the Litchfield Bug Inn and The Terryville Bug-A-Fair. If you ever see Chuck around, be sure to shake his hand and thank him. Without him, we wouldnt have the two best VW shows on the east coast.
Before we go any further, When did you have your last tetnus shot?

This is Clay's garage, at least it's the most anyone has shown and lived to tell about it. All told there are 3 bays and lots of room for.....stuff. This is pretty typical. Dont worry though, All the Das Bulli Haus Panels are kept in the house, not here.

Why the heck did they put a fence in front of the toll booths? The gentleman in the photo is the one and only Steve Mierz, Editor of "Common Gear", a must read newsletter for every fan of classic VW's. If you have been a part of the VW hobby in New England for any length of time, you know him. Steve was the top guy (editor)in the CVA way back when I first joined in the early '80's. I remember Steve being a kind and pleasent person, very willing to help encourage a fellow hobbiest. It was this kind of attitude that got me and kept me involved in the hobby. If it wasn't for a kind word and a "Hi Dan" from Steve and others, I might be driving a Ford (argh!!!) This pic is Steve and his "new" '68 bug. "It ain't pretty, but it gets you there" Photo location: Boothe Memorial Park, Stratford, CT. They saved one of the old toll booths from the Wilbur Cross Parkway (CT Rt 15)and set it up at the edge of Boothe Park's parking lot.

This is Steve's '60 bug. Color is L346 "Mango Green" Bumper sticker is popular with residents of Stony Creek, CT

This exciting looking project is a '56 oval that belongs to David in Gainesville Fla. It is fairly complete and he says he only needs a radio and the badge for the hood. Looks like it is going to be a fun project. David says he had to treat the car to a trip to the Don Garlits Museum. How thoughtful.

watch for all those great projects that other VW fans have going. Maybe it will give you the motivation that you need to get going on your own.
