Remove the back cover to the headlights. It's held in place by two phillip screw clips that take a 1/4 turn in either direction to unlock:
Removing the Kidney Grill ![]()
If you look at the top of the grill, you will see a single screw, remove that screw, and the tab it screws into:![]()

Here is a close-up of what a tab looks like, once removed:Looking back at the second picture on this page, you will see that the grill is clipped in place also. There are four clips on the top, two on either side of that single screw you just removed. To unlock the clip, you need to lift it up(possibly with a flathead screw driver) while gentle pulling outward. There are also two clips behind the grill, on the bottom (one behind each side of the kidneys):
Once you have the clips so that they're loose and the grill is slightly pulled away, you will need to release the ends of the "wings" of the grill. This is the part that is slightly more difficult, if you've never removed the grill before. At either corner of the grill, there are two hidden clips that hold the ends of the grill in place. You will need that long tool to gain access to the clips, and to release them. This is a picture of the "access hole" that you will need to insert the long tool into. This picture happens to be of the passenger side, but there is an identical access hole on the driver's side. You may have to lift the rubber seal (for the hood), out of the way to see it:
You CANNOT see the clip that holds the ends of the grill in place. You will look and see a clip, but it is not the correct one:

Insert the tool into the hole and give it a little wiggle, and you should feel it go down a few more inches. There is a secondary access hole that you need to get the tool into:![]()
Then, using a cloth or towel, pry the edge of the grill out, while pushing down on the tool (you should feel that it's "springy" as you push on the hidden clip):![]()
Once you have removed the side of the grill as much as shown in the picture, you can do the same on the passenger side (or vice versa, depending on which side you started on). Remember that you need those clips in the center kidney portion loose. They tend to snap back into place, so it might take a few trys to finally get the whole thing loose. The grill comes off and looks like this:![]()
