The ICEMAN Competition Kit for the Neon is the most popular intake system. Since the last time I updated this page, AEM and the OuikPipe have come out. In a past issue of Mopar Performance magazine, they tested the ICEMAN and it added 10-12hp at the wheels. This was tested again on a DOHC not a SOHC Neon, but at SoCal Neon Dyno Day, we will test the ICEMAN on a SOHC Neon. I still feel this is the best intake available!
The AEM intake is very much like the ICEMAN, but instead or using the stock battery, you have to change to a smaller battery from a Honda Accord. Power numbers are about the same (10-15hp). People seem to like the AEM and I haven't heard anything bad about it. I need some pictures of the AEM for this site. If you have this intake and some comments about it please let me know. The "NEW" kit on the block is Tom V's QuikPipe. You can find out more info about here of the page. He list that it made another 10hp on his wife's DOHC Neon. Dynojet's don't lie. So if you're in the market for a intake for under $200. You might wanna check it out. It seems like the Nemo-Air/Kirk Intake has been put out to paster. I'm sure people out like their's, but it's not too cost effective compared to the others. You can find pictures of it around the net, if you've never seen one.
This picture is taken from the DOHC Neon coupe tested, he auto-x's too. *Update* look for this Neon and the story on installing the ICEMAN intake in the Jan '98 issue of Super Street Magazine .
Here's what some owners of the ICEMAN system have to say....

I installed the Ice-man today. It took me a total of 2 hours and mostly due
to not having all the tools that I needed to do the job well. The
installation is a pain in the A**. The quality is good with the exception
of one of the mounts that did not line up quite right. It is difficult to
remove the stock airbox assembly, but once it was gone the engine has a much
more spacious look to it. The battery tray that they supply is of high
quality and was nicely painted. I was disappointed that they make you drill
out the tube to insert a plug to connect to the crankcase vent, for this
sort of money it should be a finished product. It looks good when finished
and really cleans up the engine bay. When I first started the car it
stalled out (the battery had been disconnected for 2 hours), but on the
second try it started right up and idled at 1k. This is the beauty of the
PCM, gone are the days of a slow idle after opening up the intake. When you
blip the throttle you can hear the intake gulping air. I started down the
road and floored it in second and roasted the blizzaks so long that I felt
bad and hit third. The throttle response is much greater and my DOHC has a
broader power range now. (sorry, no G-Tech to give real improvements)
The modification is well worth it. The filter does sit very low, equal to
the plastic guard that is under the front bumper.

I installed my Iceman air intake yesterday. It took about 4 hours, and
that included 45 minutes looking for an aluminum spacer I dropped (I
never did find it). I had problems installing the mounting bracket onto
the throttle cable cover, and I ended up leaving the cover off. Also,
after I had everything tightened up, I discovered I could not get to the
nut on the battery hold-down bracket. I loosened the works up and
finally got it in.
The results are just short of spectacular. The car (a 96 ACR Coupe with
Brospeed exhaust) feels stronger, and it is outright way faster from
4000 rpm and up. The cone filter is low, and I will be careful to check
it for water.
I highly recommend the Iceman unit.
