My Bio

This page is about me! Of course if you havn't done it yet now is the time to hit your "back" button on your browsers.

I am a racer. Thats what I like and thats what I do. I am also the "temporary" editor of the newsletter for the Mahoning Valley Region (MVR) of the SCCA, TRACK.

I started racing without my parents knowledge at Pacemakers Drag Strip in Mt. Vernon, Ohio as soon as I got my drivers license! After I finished college, I raced Slot Cars in the middle 60's. I was the Pro at Cleveland Raceway and ran the track for a while while the owner, Terry Miklavic, was ill.

I started racing motorcycles in Motocross in about 1968 and got an an AMA Pro Motocross license in about 1970. My family bought a Honda dealership in 1970 and I ran that until 1978. I raced Pro Motocross until about 1977 before I decided that my body could not take it anymore.

In 1975 I purchased a Datsun SPL311U (Roadster) to race in SCCA Road Racing, as Motocross was wearing me out and I figured that I needed to sit down to race. This was fun so by the end of the year I had purchased a 1971 Ford Pinto, originally owned by Carson Baird, to race in the IMSA Radial Series. I sold the Pinto in 1980 and built a 1979 Ford Mustang to race in this same series until IMSA decided that 1983 would be the last year for the rear wheel drive cars.

I raced Renaults during the 80's and detail that story in my Renault section, but it was the most fun I ever had.

In 1990 I looked around the garage and saw that I still had quite a collection of Ford Pinto parts so I built a 1971 Pinto 2.0 to run in SCCA regional racing in IT-B. This car is a rocket and this will be it's 8th year. I run it on Hoosier 225/45/13 bias ply tires and hang the rear out in most corners. Lots of fun! You can see a picture of my Pinto #0 on the OVR link page below.

For this year I plan to run the Pinto at Mid Ohio and the Renault at Nelson Ledges. I usually run car number 0 or 01 whichever is available. Come out and see me race and talk to me some time.

I will be glad to share preparation tips or any other information I have on these cars with anyone interested, just email me at the link below.

In real life, I got a degree in electronics and worked for Clevite Corp. in Cleveland from 1965 through 1969. I went back home to the family business in 1969, a farm and 25 bed nursing home. I have been involved with the nursing home business since my family started one in 1955. I am currently the Director of Administration for American Health Care Centers Inc. and supervise the administrators of 16 nursing homes in Ohio.

I am married and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Well maybe 5 or 6!
