Probably the single best thing that you can do to help with your restoration is to attain a microfiche card for your cycle. This one little card will help you select the correct part for the serial number of your cycle. If you are doing a Concours type restoration it simply can't be done without one. Even if you are just "fixin up" an old clunker to use as a runabout it will come in very handy.
The card is a must if you want to find the "NOS" parts for your project as a lot of the "new old stock" parts suppliers don't really know what the part fits because it is usually in an original plastic bag with just the part number on it.
The microfiche cards are $9.50 each and available on most Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki's that were imported into the United States since the mid sixties. Countertop microfiche readers are also available.
