Jimbo's '56 Ford F-100. . . . .

Jimbo's '56 Ford F-100,
Page 2

This effie (What F-100's are called) was built piece meal from the ground up. This was not a complete vehicle, but was put together with a piece from here and a piece from there. This was never actually a truck! The frame came from a wrecking yard, the cab came from Lost Hills, California, the bed from another wrecking yard, and the rest of the parts came from various parts houses, wrecking yards and Ford F-100 catalogs and stores! The truck when completed was registered by it's frame number.

All components in this truck are stock with the exception of the bench seat, which is from a '92 Chevy Silverado, necessary air conditioning, and the trans cooler which is G.M. The 12V motor that operates the cowl vent was prefabricated from a power seat out of a Dodge.

It is powered by a 292 Y block '56 Ford. The trans is a '56 Fordomatic, which hooks up a '57 Ford rear end.

The dark metallic brown paint is accented with a limited amount of gold and burnt orange pinstriping. The bed wood is oak with the hold down rails chromed. The frame, inside the fender wells and running boards are black Imron. The battery box, brake pedal arm and intake manifold are powdercoated. The exhaust manifolds are off of a cabover Ford truck, similar to a Rams horn type and are porcelain coated. The tires are Michelin and the wheels are a smoothie type. All suspension front and rear are leaf springs with the eyes reversed to get it a little lower. Future plans include the possibility of converting to disc brakes.

The interior has all been re-done in dark brown and tweed colors. The antenna is electrical as is the cowl vent behind the hood. Lots of chrome accents the interior which includes the stock steering column. The steering wheel is also original. This fairly well covers what makes this machine function! I hope you've enjoyed this tour of my truck as much as I've enjoyed showing it to you!!
