Garage Scene - 33 Aussie Dodge Coupe

Dave & Rosalea Walther - Albury Street Rodders

[1] Stock height body (factory chop, 2" lower than the sedans)

Dave originally bought the coupe from the Tocumwal (NSW) area, as a rust free body shell and chassis, around 20 years ago. It seems to be a long time project, but he has really only spent the last six years working on it to get it to where it's at now, as it spent the rest of the time in storage.

Australian Dodge coupe bodies were built by T. R. Richards of Adelaide. They were hand built, were all three window, had full timber bodies and also had a factory 2" chop making the roofline lower than the sedans. (The American Coupes were five window).

[2] Body steeled out, fitted with burst proof door locks & electric windows.

All the timber was removed, the body steeled out and roof filled. While upgrading, the car was fitted with burst-proof door locks, central locking and power windows. The suspension was upgraded with a 4" dropped Super Bell I-beam axle and stainless four-bar front, triangular four-bar rear, with a shortened 9" disc brake rear end. The chassis is tubbed at the rear. The coupe is powered by a 440 cu Chrysler, which has been mildly worked, and runs a tunnel ram. The auto is a 727 which has also been tricked. Wheels are Centreline.

[3] 440 Tunnel rammed Dodge powers the coupe.
