Pro-Stroke Engines

Don Garlits didn't call the car club he started back in the '50's "The Strokers Hot Rod Club" for nothing! Stroking means Grunt! At Pro-Stroke Engines all they do is build stroker engines and mail order stroker kits, and have been doing it for over 17 years or so now. Proprietor, Clint Curran, tells us that he doesn't mean just skimming a bit off the pistons either. He's talking about turning the cylinders into bloody great mine shafts!

Pro-Stroke Engines believe that you can have all the horsepower in the world, but if you're engine lacks torque, it will be a pig to drive anywhere, other than a drag strip. What does it take to stay in front of the opposition? Simple. Big heads, a monster cam and high compression will do it, but only as long as your car's driven late at night, not in traffic snarls. Facing facts, a 400 hp small block just can't cut it in the real world of day to day driving.

At Pro-Stroke Engines they are serious about making street and strip engines perform like no other. The bottom line is torque, stacks of it. And they have done their homework and are rightly proud of building some of the strongest engines in the land, with the majority of the work they do being on race engines for drag racing, ski racing and circuit racing.

Well, the good news is that Pro-Stroke Engines have come on board as a major sponsor of the ASRF Raffle car. Not just one of their superb Stroker Kits into a tidy 350 small block, no, it's the whole hog! A 388 ci Stroker engine, that will feature all the innovations and learned skills that Clint Curran has accumulated over the past 17 years. An engine that will be strong enough for the winner of the '32 Tourer to be able to go and play when the urge is there, and still get twice the kilometers that most re-conditioned engines could only dream of offering.

So, you want to know more about what this trick engine will have inside her do you? Well, you will have to wait until the next newsletter to find out, because this time around we just wanted to spark your interest, and introduce you to Pro-Stroke Engines, and announce to everyone how pleased we are to have them on board. If you can't wait until then, you could always give Clint a call on (03) 9758 0713, or arrange a time to drop by and talk tech.
