1933 Dodge 3W Coupe
Glenn & Moyra Czislowski
Independent Rodders / Brisbane

The love for this coupe started many years ago, when Glenn first saw it in a locked enclosure on a vacant block. He thought he would love to own it, the style was great. After checking to see if it was still there every now and again, he was shocked to see it was gone, and thought the owner had sold it. The coupe was quickly forgotten.

Years later he saw the very same coupe in a wrecking yard. Not wanting to waste any time, he went and purchased his coupe. Feeling great, he took it homeA couple of days later, there was a knock at his door. A suited gentleman was standing there saying "I'm sorry sir, but I think you have a stolen vehicle in your possession. May I look at the vehicle?" After showing the detective, it turned out to been stolen from the block where Glenn used to see it. So, it was then a trip to court against the wreckers, as they didn't hold a title to it. The wreckers didn't steal it, they were called to remove it from a house yard only a couple of streets away from the original owner's block. After talking to the original owner Glenn had to convince him to sell it to him, and not take it back. A deal was done.

As Dodge parts are so rare, our biggest find was at the Toowoomba Swap Meet when it was still at the old Showgrounds. I looked up to see this cloud of dust and Glenn racing down the hill. "Quick, I need $60!" (He only carries hot dog money at swap meets). Off he went in another cloud of dust. I'm sure he broke the land speed record that day! His purchase was a near perfect '33 Dodge grille and surround. Bargain!

It took 4 years to build, many late nights & most weekends. After the body and chassis were bashed and beaten, it was ready for paint. My RED coupe. I could hardly wait. Oh well, it was red in my dreams. The little woman wasn't having red! Every man and his dog has a red coupe! So, it was off to the paint shop to look at colour chips. After looking at heaps of paint chips, we finally agreed on one. Off to the counter to order our paint. The assistant said "That's a great colour, but, sorry it's European, and not available in Australia. Choose another colour." NO WAY! With the help of our painter, and Spies Hecker, we were able to track down a formula and so we have our colour. It was difficult to find trim to match, but we did it.

It is built to go for full rego when Qld gets it. 1986 unleaded 350 Chev and auto, catalytic converters, independent s/s f/end, 9", Dragway mags, electric windows, heater/demister and an all-steel body. This is our 3rd rod built from a pile of junk. A '28 Chev tourer, '29 Dodge pick-up and now my favorite, a 1933 3W Dodge Coupe. The coupe made its maiden voyage to the Canetoad Cruise, and was rewarded by taking out one of the "Top 5". Good stuff. Now we have had 3 cars that won something.

Yours in Rodding,
Moyra.
