Issue No. 12 January 1998
Dave Clift (CNS) and Tony Correa (Vic State Steward) were on duty at the recent WA State Title Show, and while in the West they took the opportunity to check out hot rod shops and gather stories on local WA rods for the newsletter. The WA rodders arranged for the use of a '29 roadster hire rod for the boys to get around town.
The hire rod business is owned and run by Jeff Ewence. Jeff attended the 1st ASRF Nationals in his '63 T-Bird Convertible (still has it), he also still has his channelled '34 5W coupe, which he has owned since 1958. Jeff's daughter, Amanda, attended the '95 Nats in Qld in his black '29 roadster.
The 'rent-a-rod' concept sure is a more interesting way to get around when visiting another city, than the usual hired Laser or Magna! (and, of course, it doesn't rain in Perth, so there's no probs with the topless roadster). Dave (or Lard as he is known) was impressed with the performance of the V6, which also proved to be very economical. The roadster Lard & Tony used is the first of 3 which Jeff will eventually have available for hire. If you are in WA, and in need of a hire rod, give Jeff a ring on (08) 9339 4337.

Lard couldn't decide whether to put a deposit on Bondy's shack (Left photo) or Rose Hancock's cottage in the burbs (right)
