Issue No. 14 July 1998

The South West Sandgroper Nats held in Bunbury (WA) recently were a big success, with many street rods travelling across the Nullarbor Plains to get there. This is a testament to the reliability and driveability of Australian street rods in the 90s. We have featured this event on pages 8 & 9 of this issue. Over the past few months there have been many other minor and major events happening, with good attendance's. Throughout this issue there are features on the Hunter Un-nationals (NSW), The Powerhouse Run (NSW), and South West Street Rodders Port Fairy Rod Run (Vic) and coverage of the 1998 Qld State Title Show which had a record number of entries.
Lou Selmos 34 Chev Coupe (our cover car) is featured this issue. Although Lous coupe is street driven, it is still capable of doing 12s on the track. Our other feature car this time is Bill & Pam Midsons 32 Ford sedan from Tasmania. Both these cars are good examples of practical, street driven hot rods, while they are different in their styles.
The ASRF Website has opened up our contacts with other rodding bodies and street rodders, both locally and internationally, with many now writing to us with their comments (all good) about the ASRF website, and the newsletter. A couple of the letters received recently have been included in our new "Postcards" section to give members an idea of what other rodders are saying about the ASRF. A common comment which we get from these E-mailers is one of pleasant surprise when they discover that we have such a great selection of rods & customs, as well as the dry lakes racers for example (& not unlike their own at home!). If you have a chance, look up the ASRF website, and go on a tour through our "Rod Links", or surf the nets hot rod sites, and we guarantee youll be hooked, and, it beats watching re-runs on the box!
Next issue deadline for editorial contributions and advertising is 20/08/1998 (October Issue)
