The 1991 Ford Mustang GT

The Fox 3 Mustang now celebrated its fifth year on the streets. Although the sales decreased once again, the Mustang was still considered one of the best performance cars on the road. There were many changes on 1991, that now enabled people to tell the difference between 1987-1990 and 1991. The old turbine 15x7 inch wheels were replaced with a more sleek Cast Aluminum 16x7 inch wheel. This new wheel design bares the tri-bar running horse logo. A much better design than the boring turbine. The same popular 5.0 HO was under the hood as was the 60mm throttle body, mass airflow sensor, 19 lb-hr injectors, E7TE Truck Heads, roller lifter cam, remote low-restiction air cleaner and EEC-IV electronics system. Once again, the Stainless Steel exhaust and tubular headers were present. And lastly the GT Suspension Package.

The new tires, P225/55ZR16, were a spectacular addition to the Mustang. They were all weather optional also. Due to the larger wheels, larger front fenders were installed. Also, for the convertibles, a new stack height was created.
Except for that the GT featured the same exterior: Aerodynamic Nose, fog lights, ground effects package, louvered taillights, rear wing and "flush rear quarter window."
There were some new exterior colors offered in 1991. New colors are in bold print below.

The interior of the 1991 GT was identical to the 1990 GT except instead of having a shifter lockout under the steering column, it was on the shifter. Also for automatics, it you wanted to shift into Drive, Reverse or a specific gear, you had to depress the brake. Most of the other features still remained.
