The 1988 Ford Mustang GT


The 1988 Mustang GT was very similar to the 1987 in many respects. Ford found no need to change the style that sold over 68,000 cars. In 1988, the body was the same as was the engine in it. Once again the popular and powerful 5.0 HO was under the hood. It lived on with its tuned length aluminum intake plenum, 19 lb-hr injectors, E7TE truck heads, roller lifter cam, remote low-restriction air cleaner, and EEC-IV electronics system. All GT models featured .83 in. rear anti-sway bar 1.3 in. front anti-sway bar, gas pressurized struts with rear quadra-shocks, and the 15x7 in. wheels with the turbine centers. The same stainless steel exhaust ports accompanied the stainless steel tubular headers and the traditional 10.84 in. brakes remained the same.

The exterior of the car, had all the great features from 1987: Aerodynamic nose, fog lights, ground effects package, louvered taillights, rear wing, and "flush rear quarter window." All exterior colors carried over from 1987, no new colors were offered.

The interior of the 1988 Mustang was basicly a carryover from 1987. The instrument panel, seats, climate control, console and door trim. The wheel had a tilt feature like the previous year. Interior features included:
