Henry Ryman / Rod Biggar - 1996 Suzuki Baleno GL Hatch

The crew of Henry Ryman and Rod Biggar are the newest members of the Keema Suzuki Rally Team, running the smaller-engined Suzuki Baleno GL. Despite missing round 1 of the 1997 Queensland Rally Championships, the cars debut in round 2 of the Championships saw the team take first place honours in class N2 of the QRC section of that event. The crew have set their sights on winning class N2 in Queensland in 1997, which they are currently leading.

Henry Ryman

The Driver: Henry Ryman

Henry is a long-time rally campaigner with over 20 years of experience in the sport, having previously taken outright victories in rounds of the Queensland Rally Championships. After a taking a break from the sport for a number of years, Henrys return to serious rally competition in 1995, with new navigator Rod Biggar, saw him quickly regain the form of old, giving the new team a reputation for being quick, consistent competitors in Queensland rallying.

The Navigator: 'Big' Rod Biggar

Rod Biggar Although a relative newcomer to the sport of rallying, with only a few seasons of competition experience, Rod's enthusiasm for the sport and the team are obvious. After teaming with Henry Ryman in 1995, Rod and Henry quickly formed a good relationship in the car, which proved to be an advantage that saw excellent results towards the end of the 1996 rally season. Although he currently resides in NSW, Rod is a born and bred Queenslander, and returns to Queensland for the Keema team's rally commitments.

The Car: 1996 Suzuki Baleno GL Hatchback

Henry and Rod are campaigning a 1996 model Suzuki Baleno GL, running in the 'showroom standard' Group N2 rally class. The cars engine is untouched, run in exactly the same configuration as Suzukis on-road Baleno GL. The Baleno GL runs a 1.6 litre SOHC engine with electronic multi-point fuel injection, producing a peak of 72.5kW of power and 127 Nm of torque.

The only modifications to the Keema car are additional rally equipment such as the safety roll cage and navigation equipment, and up-rated suspension springs and shock absorbers to handle the rough terrain encountered in forest rallying. The car is prepared by professional rally engineer Norm Singleton, of Brisbanes 'Rally Connection'.
