Last months Falken Tyres Rally Queensland was the first rally to see the Keema Suzuki Rally Team field three cars in the same event, with the much awaited debut of the third Suzuki Baleno of Henry Ryman and Rod Biggar. Again run on the excellent rally roads of the Imbil forestry area, the rally was round 2 of the Queensland Rally Championships, as well as the second round of the Australian Rally Championships Super Series.
Tony Kabel and Greg Tebble, again competing in their 1800cc Baleno GLX, furthered their lead in class N3 of the Queensland Rally Championships, winning that class in the Queensland Championships section of the event, and finishing second in the Australian Rally Championships results to Geoff Full in the Toyota Corolla RV after some minor problems on the second day of the event.
Henry Ryman and Rod Biggar, in the 1600cc Baleno GL, celebrated their first run in the car by winning class N2 in the Queensland Rally Championships section of the results, and finishing second in that class in the Australian Rally Championships results, seconds behind the Honda Civic of South Australian Denise Collins. Navigator Rod Biggar once again commuted from Sydney for the debut of the 1600cc Baleno, which was delayed by a back injury to driver Ryman earlier in the year. Ryman declared himself 90% fit after completing the event with no problems, and is now looking forward to the remainder of the Queensland Rally Championships.
New teammates Rodney Cross and Alan Stean, still coming to terms with each other and their pacenoting, nevertheless finished second in the Queensland Rally Championships in class N3, and have thrown down the gauntlet to the other Keema crews for round 3 of the QRC, to be held in Townsville in mid-July.
The Keema Suzuki Rally Team would like to thank their major sponsors, the Keema Automotive Group and Brisbanes Quick Fit Tyre Service, for all their support in getting the team to Rally Queensland.
