| Pit road can be very dangerous and these guys need to concentrate on getting their driver out of the pits before anyone else. They also need to be aware of their surroundings, so that they don't get run over by other drivers coming in to the pits for service. | |||

Equipment Used in The Pits
| JACK-- Only one can be used during a stop. | GAS CANS -- Two 11-gallon cans are needed to fill an empty tank. Each can weighs 85 pounds when full. | WINDSHEILD CLEANER-- Some teams use use a tearsheet and others use a long handled brushed from the other side of pit wall. |
| AIR GUNS-- No more than two are permitted during a pit stop. | CATCH CAN-- It collects the excess fuel that spills through the fuel-cell vent tube near the rear of the car. | GRILL CLEANER-- Another long handled brush used by a crew member for the other side of the wall. |
Major repairs have to be done
behind the wall or in the garage.
