A.General
1.Once the vehicle has been inspected and is registered it will be placed in a containment area. The Vehicle is considered off-limits to everyone except TECA and Competition Officials. This includes teachers and students.
2.Each school must have a T-Shirt represented by their school colors.
3.No one will be allowed on the track except officials after the start of the Trial Runs.
4.All teachers will be provided an officials' shirt.
5.The judges reserve the right to inspect the vehicle for safety concerns at any time during the competition.
6.The teams are reminded that they are representing their schools and their behavior should reflect this responsibility.
7.All drivers will be weighed before the Trial Run.
B.The Driver
1.A helmet with a shield or a helmet with safety glasses must be worn by the driver when the vehicle is in operation.
2.It is considered cheating if the fuel valve is shut off before the end of the Trial Run.
3.Before the Trial Run begins, only the driver and two pit crew members are allowed to push the vehicle onto the track.
4.If a breakdown occurs only the driver can make repairs. However he/she must remain in the vehicle until a TECA official arrives at the breakdown.
5.There is a maximium speed of 30 MPH.
6.The engine must be running when it crosses the finish line.
7.Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
8.There will only be two drivers allowed to drive the vehicle.
9.Both drivers must have a valid driver's license of learner's permit.
C.The Pit Crew
1.The Pit Crew cannot interfere with the vehicle once the Trial Run has started.
2.Safety glasses must be worn by the Pit Crew and drivers.
This will be strongly enforced!!!!!!
3.Each school is allowed a maximium of 5 pit crew members, including drivers.
4.Only two pit crew members are allowed on the track at the beginning of the Trial Run.
5.Only pit crew members are allowed in the pit area during competition.
This will be strongly enforced!!!!!!
D.Vehicle Operation
1.Guards and shields must be in place at all times during the competition.
2.All fuel lines will be checked for leaks and closed valves. The fuel line must remain open during the Trial Run.
3.If a team wishes to stall the engine to conserve fuel, the engine must be restarted from the driver's seated position.
4. The engine must be running when it crosses the finish line.
5.A vehicle may have an on board kit to repair unforseen breakdowns.
6.T.E.C.A. will supply all fuel during the competition.
7.The school's full name must be located on both the right and left sides of the vehicle. This makes it easy for officials and or media to identify the vehicle during inspection/competition.
E.The Teacher
1.This event was developed to promote student problem solving and teamwork. It is for this reason that teachers and parents will not be allowed in the pit crew area except for medical emergencies.
2.Teachers will be asked to be officials during the competition. Your help is greatly appreciated
