The second Grand Prix of the year takes place in Sao Paolo, the home of the late Ayrton Senna. The Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace was once a 4.9 mile circuit. It is named after Carlos Pace who scored his only GP win at this circuit in 1975. A reduced configuration regained the Brazilian GP in 1990 with the Senna "S" replacing the first corner. The circuit is known for its bumpy surface which has launched many drivers into the gravel traps, although a resurface job last year has improved the circuit a lot.
