Here it is. Homepage of our  71 442 !!!

It comes with the #s matching 455/th400 that has been rebuilt recently. The 455 is balanced, has roller rockers, reworked G heads an runs a comp. ratio of about 9:1. It has the Comp Cam 280 magnum cam. Headers and some homebuilt monster exhaust.(WZ manifolds came with car though). The th400 comes with shift kit and is built very tight. Has 2500 stall converter that turns quite high. The car has 158500 origial miles.

Paul Tumolo who is a member of the oldsmobile mailinglist has run the specs on desktop dyno for me. According to the simulation the described powerplant turns 389hp @ 4500 rpm and  479 ftlb of torque at 3500 rpm.

Options include:
p/s, p/b, p/w, power locks, a/c, tilt, am-radio and 8-track, tic toc tach, console shifter, w-27 posi, trunk release, power drivers seat, map light rear view mirror, remote lh mirror, rh mirror... and I still keep finding them...

The body tag deciphers to be:
2-door holiday coupe, 344 (=442) vin
pearl white bucket seats interior (the interior looks to be the original one!)
Saturn gold body with white vinyl top (new vinyl top came with car and paint is presentable for a daily driver.)

The hood is a repro OAI hood. The original hood came with the car too. I will go back to the original hood soon. Everyone seems to have an OAI hood these days regardless if the car came with it or not from the factory. It defenitely has enough power without it and I want to get the car back to the original setup. I will also put the W Z manifolds back on with a more tame exhaust (2.5" aluminized with Dynomax Turbo mufflers and chrome exhaust trumpets).

The car will be patched in the usual spots and repainted some point in time. Right now the focus is on mechanical issues that will show up now that it gets driven daily. The front end, springs, shocks etc. will be the first focus. I have already put in new rear air shocks and new springs off my 68 S partscar. Also fixed are exhaust leaks, brakes, timing adjustment, carb adjustment, tuneup etc.

Most recent the
front end has been rebuilt. The car got all new front suspension bushings, ball bearings, shocks, and rubber bumpers. The entire steering was replaced starting from the pitman arm. All parts were replaced with MOOG quality suspension parts. The swaybar got greaseable Polyurethane bushings from Energy suspension and Polyurethane Endlinks. All control arms and the swaybar were sandblasted, primed and painted semi gloss black.

Thanks for checking by. I hope you enjoyed the pictures! Drop me a note if you have the rh set of chrome wheelwell moldings f/s inexpensively. Also looking for a rust free trunklid. All other comments very welcome too!
