This is the engine as I bought it
(well, with a little cleaning up).
As far as I know this is a completely
stock 2.4 liter straight six. It has 196,000 miles on it and it
runs GREAT! It has just a little white smoke at start up from
worn valve guides, but the head will probably be rebuilt for more
power anyway.
You can see my serious mod of adding
8 mm plug wires. Whoo hoo! It needed new wires and I had these
laying in my garage. It actually did make the car much quicker.
It is amazing how much better an engine runs when it fires on
all cylinders all the time (two of the original wires were corroded
badly).
Here is the rebuilt engine
After 200,000 miles it was about time
to do something drastic, so we rebuilt the motor. The only performance
mod was the swap to the N36 intake manifold from a 260Z, which
is supposed to flow a little better. You can also see the new
aluminum radiator.
