Jaguar

William Lyon´s Swallow Sidecar Company gradually moved over to car conversion and building as the Swallow Coachbuilding Company in Coventry. The low built S.S.1 of 1931 was an instant success with its fabulous styling and low price. In 1935 the name Jaguar was introduced at first on the four-door 2 1/2 litre saloon. This model had an overhead valve conversion of the earlier engine.
The car to the left is the S.S.100 Jaguar with 3 1/2 litre engine developing 125 b.h.p. at 4.500 r.p.m. This sturdy and sweet-running engine helped to propel the car to over 90 m.p.h. Like later Jaguars the S.S. 90 and 100 were the work of W.M. Heynes.
