Bugatti typ 37 var en slags fattigmans typ 35, den såldes till ungefär halva priset jämfört med en 35 utan kompressor. Men med sin 1,5 liters fyrcylindriga motor hade den en toppfart på runt 150 km/t och minst lika fina köregenskaper som sin storebror.

In spite of being a "budget" version of the type 35 Bugatti, type 37 had a respectable performance and with its plain bearing crankshaft engine was easier to maintain.

The 1,5 litre engine has coil ignition and a bore and stroke of 69 x 100 mm. It has 2 inlet and 1 exhaust valve per cylinder and output is about 60 BHP.

Many Bugattis are reborn out of baskets of parts. What is missing can usually be remanufactured.

Below: In 1928 a supercharger was added to produce the 37A. The BHP increased to about 85. In this Type 43 with a similar engine installation you can see the magneto drive to the dashboard as in the eight-cylinder cars.
