The 13² Demo Derby Team welcomes you to the page for the car we like to call the Special II.

The Special II was bought in the Cities from the Goodwill car auction. It is a 1974 Century 2 door, almost identical to the Special. It was quite rusty, but had a strong running 350 4 bbl, which is why Chris bought it.

By this point, the car had already had a lot of work done to it. I should tell you that we have very few pictures of this car, so you should look at them slowly in order to make them last. The motor was already out, as was the interior and glass. It is up on jack stands to ease work. We jerked that strong running 350 so we could put that indestructible 3.8 V6 in it.

This is a good shot showing just how rusted this beast was. Notice that instead of taking the tail lights out, the back end was so rusted that we just took it all out.

Everyone laughed when we pulled that rusted car into the arena in Sauk Centre saying that it wouldn't last two hits. Chris said it would last longer than that even if he had to get out and push. You can see here that it took quite a few hits. What a coincidence, the frame buckled in front and the steering went out. Have we seen that before?

The front end got hit so hard that it knocked the front bumper and radiator back 2-3 feet and had the fan rubbing on the alternator. This car was so bad that we just pulled the motor right away. There was no chance of resurecting it.
