Bonus Points
5 additional points for leading a lap
5 additional points for leading the most laps
Possibility of no Point Gain
It is possible for the point leader not to gain any points on the second place point person if the driver leads the most laps in a race. Example: Winner gets 175 points for winning the race, plus 5 additional points for leading at least one lap, so that would equal 180 points for that race. Thus if the second place driver would get 170 points for second place, and 5 bonus points for leading a lap, plus a additional 5 points for leading the most laps then he too would have 180 points at the end of that race. So there would be no point gain by the winner of that race if he was the leader of the Nascar Points.
