Biography of "Diana, Princess of Wales"



Childhood Years


Diana, Princess of Wales, born "Lady Diana Frances Spencer" on July 1, 1961 at Park House near Sandringham, Norfolk. She was the youngest daughter of Viscount and Viscountess Althorp, now the late Earl Spencer and the Hon Mrs. Shand-Kydd.

Princess Diana had two elder sisters, Jane and Sarah, along with one brother Charles. the Princess was brought up at her fathers house in Sandringham and also at Althorp, the family home in the English midlands. She was educated at Riddlesworth Hall Preparatory School in Norfolk and West Heath School in Kent. She completed her education at Institut Alpin Videmanette, a finishing school in Rougemont, Switzerland in 1978. She then moved to Coleherne Court, London the following year. There is where she worked as a kindergarten teacher at the Young England School in Pimlico.

Princess Diana of Wales married Prince Charles on July 29, 1981 at St. Paul's Cathedral in a cermony that drew global attention. It was estimated that there was around one million people watching this fairy tail event on television around the world, with an estimated 600,000 lining the streets of London from Buckingham Palace to the Cathedral. Princess Diana was the first English woman to marry a heir to the throne for approximatly 300 years.

On June 21, 1982 Princess Diana gave birth to thier first child. He was named Prince William and on September 15, 1984 the second child was born and was named Prince Harry. Both of these Princes were born at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddingrton in London, England.
