This page is going to be about the other forgotten car the Mercury Montego which is the sister car to the Ford Torino. It was also produced from 1968-1976 I have not put up any new photos of my 1972 Mercury Montego wagon. Its yellow in color with really faded woodgrain. Its got the 302 2bbl and C4 tranny. Its a rather nice car. I bought it for $350 with a bad tranny. I spent $200 for a transmisson and wheels from a 78 Mercury Cougar. My Montego currently needs a new timing chain and I don't drive it. I have not had the time to fix it. I plan on telling some more about it sometime soon. On this car I robbed the alt harness to put on my 73 Torino. I plan to pulling the engine and trans from this car in the next couple of months to drop into my 72 Gran Torino.

5/18/05 I not sure what I was thinking when I wrote this last but I never did pull the engine. I just got the car towed home from the storage lot last week. The ole Montego is in ok shape for sitting in the lot. The wrecker driver damaged a peice of trim on the passanger side rear wheel well pulling the car out. No big deal since it was already damaged. I just washed it today cleaned up good but has mold on the grill and in some of the tougher spots to reach. I also bought a timing chain to fix it plus I have a 72 parts car I am going to pull the alt harness off of and swap to this car. The picture below is of the car before I washed it. Update: 9/22/06 I put the new timing chain and other parts on but still have some work to do. I have been pretty busy with work and I got some new toys. Plus I have been trying to get rid of some of my other cars.

This is my 1970 Montego. Its a four door car that I bought last year.(I think this was around 2002) I bought it from the original family almost to the day that they bought the car brand new. I have the original window sticker and other items. It is powered by a 302.

Update:9/22/06 I sold this car during the spring to a guy from Soddy Daisy TN. He told me he had a bunch of Montegos/Cyclones. I guess he got it for the front end but no biggie. I still liked the Mercury Hub Caps those were pretty cool.
