Drag racing (NMCA) class descriptions


PRO STREET (PS):
A heads up class for 1950 to present American brand passenger cars and trucks. The intent of this eliminator is to allow the ultimate in performance and modifications while remaining sufficiently streetable to be used for cruising.

SUPER STREET (SS):
A heads up class reserved for 1950 to present American brand passenger cars and trucks. Normally aspirated combinations (5.75lbs/c.i.) as well as nitrous oxide, blowers and turbochargers (all 7.5lbs/c.i.) are allowed. All entries compete on a 10.5 inch slick or 12 inch DOT tire.

LIMITED STREET (LS):
A heads up class reserved for 1950 to present American brand passenger cars and trucks. Normally aspirated combinations (9.0lbs/c.i.) as well as nitrous oxide, blowers and turbochargers (all 10.0lbs/c.i.) are allowed. All entries compete on a 10.5 inch slick or 12 inch DOT tire.

OUTLAW STREET (OS):
A DOT drive tire class for Pro Street type cars. With the street legal tires being the equalizer in this eliminator the rules are not as nearly so restrictive as in Pro Street. There are no limits on displacement and alcohol is allowed as a fuel. Weight for the class will only see two brackets, 2500lbs for small blocks and 3000lbs for big blocks.

MODIFIED STREET (MS):
A heads up class reserved for 1950 to present American brand passenger cars and trucks. Normally aspirated combinations (5.5lbs/c.i.) as well as nitrous oxide, blowers and turbochargers (all 7.25lbs/c.i.) are allowed. There is no limit to rear tire size; backhalf cars with ladder bars are allowed.

PRO NOSTALGIA (PN):
A heads up race class. The year models, body styles and engine combinations are intended to accuratly represent thoes cars which actually raced in the Super Stock classes in the 60's. Certain exceptions in the authenticity of these cars will be allowed. Among thoes exceptions are factors concerning safety, equality in performance, availability and durability.

NOSTALGIA SUPER STOCK:
An index style race class for the year models, body styles and engine combinations which accuratly represent thoes cars which actually raced in the Super Stock classes in the 60's. Certain exceptions in the authenticity of these cars will be allowed. Among thoes exceptions, but not limited to, are factors concerning safety, equality in performance, availability and durability. Classification will be based on an visual inspection and an e.t. range
Class designations: AFX - 9.50, A/NSS - 10.00 to 10.49, B/NSS - 10.50 to 10.99, C/NSS - 11.00 to 11.49 D/NSS - 11.50 to 11.99 E/NSS - 12.00 and above.

EFI (EFI):
Open class to all American brands of cars and trucks which were originally equipped with an electronic fuel injection setup. Modifications are allowed and will be factored in accordance with the performance-adder chart. Slicks up to 10.5 inches in width or 12 inch DOT tires are allowed.

TOP STOCK (A/TS thru R/TS):
Reserved for stock or moderatly modified American brand cars from 1950 to present. EFI and all-wheel drive cars, trucks and vehicles that were modified at a dealership or other outside business are not allowed in this eliminator. El Caminos and Rancheros are allowed as they are based on passenger car models. Cars which were originally EFI equipped, but are now carburated may compete in this class. Factory lightweights and electronic carburated cars are allowed. Turbochargers, superchargers and nitrous oxide are not allowed. Classification will be on a pounds per horsepower basis.

EZ STREET (EZS):
A heads up class reserved for 1950 to present American brand passenger cars and trucks. Normally aspirated combinations and nitrous oxide are allowed with corresponding weight breaks of 6.5 and 8.5 lbs/c.i. All entries compete on a 11.5 inch maximum tread width DOT drive-tire.

STREET ET (SET):
A bracket style elimination reserved for stock or moderately modified American cars and trucks that were built from 1950 to present. Carburated, EFI and all-wheel drive cars and trucks are allowed in this class. The intent of this class is to allow only vehicles which are basically stock in external appearance and competing on DOT tires. Engine and drive train modifications are allowed. The inspection will consist of safety tech and visual inspections per rules.

BRACKET SHOOTOUT (B&M):
At most tracks there will be an all-run single eliminator for non-electric aided entries. Please note that at some tracks this eliminator will conform to local rules and electronic equipped cars may be allowed to compete. The class is open to all 4 wheeled vehicles running 7.50 seconds and slower. Modifications to cars are limited to the ET safety rules as found in the NHRA/IHRA rule book (depending on the host track's sanction) and those specifically outlined in this class.
