Tony Rolt

Tony Rolt was responsible for the differential at the heart of the Jensen FF. Without this startling innovation, the Jensen FF would never have been.

Major ARP Rolt was captured by the Germans during WWII, and escaped from 7 PoW camps during the war. In the 8th camp, COLDITZ, he masterminded the most daring escape. The story of how a full size glider was built in the attic of Colditz castle, a maximum security camp, without the knowlege of the guards, is well documented. The Colditz Glider .

After the war, Rolt competed in many motor sport events in his 'spare time'. He was so successful that Jaguar gave him a Works drive in the World Sports Car Championship. True to form, he excelled under the most difficult and gruelling circumstances in motorsport. Rolt drove a C-Type Jaguar to victory in 1953 in the 24 Hour Le Mans with co-driver Duncan Hamilton.
