Terry Labonte is the 1996 Winston Cup Champion. He drives the #5
Kellogg's Corn Flakes Chevrolet Monte Carlo. He's also Jeff Gordon's teammate
joining Hendrick Motorsports in 1993. He also won the title in 1984.
He has not missed a start since January 1979. In 1996 he surpassed Richard Petty's
mark of consecutive starts...513. Terry only won one
race in 1997 and in 1998 but was consistent staying in the top 5 and top 10 in almost every
race. Terry finished 8th in the 1998 points and I'm sure he'll be strong in '99.
Wally Dallenbach, Jr. will be driving the #25 Budweiser Chevy Monte Carlo in '99. He filled in here and there in '98 and was signed on in the fall to drive for Hendrick Motorsports in '99.
1997 Craftsman Truck Series Champion
Jack Sprague drives the #24 Quaker State Chevrolet in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Jack has been a contender for the title for the past two years. He's a great benefit and to Hendrick Motorsports. Congrats to Jack in 1998. He placed 2nd in the championship points. He missed winning the Craftsman Truck Championship by 3 points.
Best of luck to the whole Hendrick Motorsports organization in 1999.
And last but certainly not least...I must say a prayer for Rick Hendrick
the owner of Hendrick Motorsports. He's been diagnosed as having a rare form of
leukemia. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
