Jeff Gordon, Ray Evernham, and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors have put on quite a season. Jeff is the youngest driver to have 3 championships. Jeff is 27. Jeff also tied the modern day era record for most wins in one season with Richard Petty. The record stands is 13 wins. Jeff had some tough competition this year with Mark Martin but clenched his 3rd title at Rockingham, the next to the last race of the season. He led the most laps in 1998 and won the most races. Jeff also won the No Bull 5 promotion by R.J. Reynolds twice. He won more than $5 million in winnings alone plus over $2 million for the championship. Its been rumored in the past the Dupont team didn't have what it together in the fall. Jeff won the last two races of the season at Rockingham and the rain-delayed Napa 500 at Atlanta. In the last 20 races of the 1998 season, Jeff won 10 and didn't place any lower than 7th. In his 7 year Winston Cup career Jeff has raced 189 races. He's won 42 races. Jeff's had 93 top 5's and 116 top 10's. Not too shabby! So as a Jeff Gordon fan I'm thrilled with the season. The only place from here is up. :-) Here are some highlights of the season. Enjoy!
