With everything ready to go exept the distributor. I was going to put the original points distributor in it until I tried firing the motor for a while and the damn thing wouldn't even fire. I realized that the cam where the points ride on was worn and needed rebuilt. At this point I said I GIVE UP! I used an old HEI distributor out of my old 74 El Camino SS. I took it to the local speed shop and had them go through it. Two days later I finally heard the motor fire for the first time. I never realized that small block chevy's made so much noise with open headers in a 10'x 20' metal storage shed!
